Mad Hatters Tea Party in Griffith!
Vanessa has been doing a terrific job in arranging some wonderful social events for our Forrest Community Services clients in Griffith. This week they attended a morning tea with the theme of a Mad Hatter’s tea party to celebrate the Alice in Wonderland story. The book was fist published in 1865, and the Disney film released in 1951. Although unfortunately Vanessa wasn’t able to be there on the day to participate in the event, a few of our clients and care worker Lyn Barnes were in attendance and case workers popped in to say hello.
Mrs Burdette kindly provided the home made scones, jam and cream for the morning tea, which were delicious!
Mrs Jean Carter’s hat won the prize for the day, her creative idea of donning all the hats she owns on top of each other made for an interesting conversation.
Mrs Carter spoke of the days when no one left the house without a hat or gloves on and recalled there being many hat shops whilst she lived in Melbourne where people would go in and select items to then create their own hat to wear.
