Specialist advice and support

The Continence Advisory Service operates in clinics across the Riverina depending on referral numbers. The service is available to people aged 65 and older or 50 years and older for people identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

A Continence Advisor is a registered nurse with qualifications in the management of bladder and bowel conditions. In addition to providing specific management plans and assessments, the Continence Advisor can offer advice on:

  • Healthy bladder and bowel habits

  • Bladder training techniques

  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation

  • Use of urinary drainage devices

  • Aids and appliances, including assistance with applications for Government funding.

The Continence Advisor also offers education to health professionals and carers and presents at continence clinics.


Accessing the service

Individuals, family members, carers or health professionals can refer clients to this service, which is funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
